EdenPure Portable Heater
The EdenPURE Heater is supposed to heat rooms from wall to wall and floor to ceiling.

It is similar to a space heater. However, the makers of the EdenPURE Portable Heater claim their product can "cut your heating bill up to 50% while keeping you toasty warm." The EdenPURE Heater is billed as a safer alternative to traditional space heaters because it generates "infrared heat."

The infomercial refers to this as a "soft heat.". The manufacturer also says that EdenPURE can heat rooms faster than combustion heaters and cannot start a fire.

The EdenPURE GEN3 Quartz Infrared Portable Heater is available in two models, GEN3 Model 500 and GEN3 Model 1000. The EdenPURE GEN3 Model 500 comes in the decorator color of black with burled wood accent and heats a room up to 300 square feet. The EdenPURE GEN3 Model 1000 heats a room up to 1000 square feet. EdenPURE GEN3 500 is Rated To Heat up to 300 Square Feet.

Is the EdenPURE GEN3 safe to use?

The manufacturer claims it is. "The EdenPURE GEN3 has zero clearance, which means you can push it up against the wall or furniture without risk of fire. Tests prove the unit does not transmit any energy into the atmosphere that will burn or harm anyone regardless of distance between the person and the EdenPURE GEN3. The EdenPURE GEN3 can be put next to flammable materials with no safety clearance needed."

Some consumer comment:

I purchased the EdenPURE GEN3 after hearing about it on Paul Harvey radio show. My first purchased stopped working after about a month of use. I had to contact the manufacturer twice to get a return authorization. The second unit died about a month of use. I returned and asked for a refund. I should have researched before I ever bought the first one. There a many, many bad reviews on-line, showing the same type of problem.

We used the EdenPURE GEN3 all winter in our office. The heat it produces is more comfortable than the dry heat made by our office's heating system. After a few weeks we could turn the primary heat source down a few degrees, because the EP1000XL was more comfortable and providing plenty of heat. Great product. If gas prices are expensive this year, I'd recommend this to help lighten that bill.

Portable space heaters can be a blessing in a cold and drafty house in the deep of winter. But space heaters, and any electrical product with a heating element, can demand a lot of power. By their nature, they also produce a lot of heat, and, if not used carefully, can become a fire hazard. Make sure to follow these safety principles with portable space heaters:

Plug portable space heaters directly into an outlet; do not use an extension cord.

Make certain the circuit into which you plug a space heater can adequately and safely handle the added demand.

Never remove the grounding feature on a plug by clipping or grinding off the third prong.

Use an adapter to connect the heater's 3-prong plug, if you do not have a 3-hole outlet. Make sure the adapter ground wire or tab is attached to the outlet ground.

Relocate heaters away from passageways and keep all flammable materials such as curtains, rugs, furniture or newspaper at least three feet away.

Unplug and safely store portable space heaters when not in use.
